2015 Blues Challenge

presented by Central Virginia Blues Society

Do you love live blues music? Are you a blues band or musician that is ready to take your performances to the next level?

If so, then mark you calendar for Sunday, August 30 for the Central Virginia Blues Society 2nd Annual Blues Challenge at Charlottesville's Southern Café & Music Hall. A band and solo/duo act will be selected from the best blues artists in the region to represent the CVBS in Memphis where they will compete for cash, prizes, and industry recognition at the annual International Blues Challenge (IBC). The IBC, which is held annually in Memphis by the non-profit Blues Foundation, is the world’s largest gathering of Blues acts and is the culmination of an international search by the Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations – to find the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to take their act to the international stage.

At the CVBS competition on August 30, each competing act will play for up to 30 minutes. A panel of judges will select winners in each category.  The overall winner will receive a $500 prize and 2nd Place will receive $200 -- along with the opportunity to compete in Memphis during the January 2016 IBC. Please note that competitors must be members of CVBS but the event is open to the public. Join us on August 30 for the best blues in Central Virginia!
