Spirit Family Reunion

with Bryan Elijah Smith & The Wild Hearts

After over 300 live shows in support of their debut album, No Separation, Spirit Family Reunion have become a live favorite and have stunned audiences at consecutive Newport Folk Festival appearances, Stage Coach, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and many more as well as sharing the stage on tour with Levon Helm, Alabama Shakes, Dr. Dog, Blitzen Trapper, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Felice Brothers Trampled By Turtles and more.  The NYC band’s spirited live show has received critical acclaim with the San Francisco Weekly naming them one of the best performances at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, and saying “The charge in the air was celebratory.  We had been baptized.”  On seeing the band live for the first time, the Detroit Metro Times stated, “It was like when Landau discovered Springsteen.  When Aretha discovered Ray Charles,” and NPR’s Bob Boilen stated that the band were his favorite find at the 2012 Newport Folk Festival.  In an effort to have no divide between the band and its audience, Spirit Family Reunion started playing live in NYC subway stations, farmer’s markets and street corners in 2009 before taking their performances to live music venues.  The overflowing energy and lack of separation between the band and audience translated to the stage and also inspired the title of their debut album.   The band released their critically acclaimed second album, Hands Together, April 2015 which was produced by the band in Coney Island, NY and mixed by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Uncle Tupelo).
