Orion and the Melted Crayons at the Southern Presented by Indieheads
With Midnite Taxi and Yardsale
The coolest music club on UVA Grounds is teaming up with Orion and the Melted Crayons to bring you a night of vibey rock at the Southern Cafe and Music Hall on May 5th 2022. This special Cinco De Mayo(naise) show includes RVA’s indie-rockers Midnite Taxi and UVA’s emo-rockers Yardsale in conjunction with Charlottesville’s vibe-vendors Orion and the Melted Crayons.
Orion and the Melted Crayons is the recording name songwriter/producer Orion Faruque assumed in 2018 to develop his musical visions with artists around the globe and to release 2021’s The Good Stuff album, 2018’s Breathe EP and 5 singles. With a penchant for finding joy in the moment, The Melted Crayons combines developing lyrics from Orion’s life experience, intricate harmonies and genre-bending with smacking grooves. Live, the project ranges from tight arrangements to improvised jams with the material being brought to life by the dopest multi-instrumentalists: Orion Faruque (guitar/vocals), Zach Cross (keys), Elie Bashkow (guitar/violin), Trevor Pietsch (bass/vocals), Isaac Rowlingson (drumset), plus special guests.
The debut album, The Good Stuff, can be found at https://linktr.ee/OTMAC

Midnite Taxi is an alternative indie rock collective based in Richmond, Virginia. The band was initially made up of college students Campbell Staton (vocals/guitar) and Ben Eisenberg (drums), writing and self-producing songs out of their dorm rooms. Eventually, Lucas White (guitar/keys) and Jaden Graham (bass) joined and Midnite Taxi became an active member of the Richmond DIY scene. Since then, the group has played numerous shows around the central Virginia area and released their debut EP “Somehow”. The tracks encapsulate the band’s growth throughout college with older songs like “Clay St.” and the title track “Somehow”, as well as a glimpse at what’s to come with newer tracks like “Loving” and “Monday Morning”.
