Songwriter Showcase Featuring U Records Artists

Luke Richard Powers is a local, Virginia based singer-songwriter raised on the tunes of James Taylor and John Denver. He began performing professionally at the age of 16 and released his debut EP, I Wishing World, in early 2021. While his previous work held loosely to the folk genre with an indie-rock flare, Luke began returning to his roots in late 2021 with his upcoming album, As I Am, to be released in May of 2022. Highly influenced by the genres of folk, americana, bluegrass, and country, Luke Richard Powers welcomes you into his world of writing shaped by heartfelt simplicity and honest reflection.

Nicola Lawless is a singer-songwriter from London. She enjoys performing covers of popular songs as well as her own originals.

Caleb Barnes is a Charlottesville-based songwriter in the lyrical tradition of artists like Jason Isbell and Josh Ritter. His band, Beezin', is a 5-piece eclectic funk/pop/rock fusion band born in the basement of the University Records house in Charlottesville, VA. Its members are Julia Ball (bass / vocals), Caleb Barnes (lead guitar / vocals), Kimball Roberts (keyboard / vocals), Alex Szeptycki (drums), and Reza Mirzaiee (rhythm guitar / vocals). At the show, Caleb will get by with a little help from a few of his Beezin’ friends.
