Sarah White New Record Show

with special guest Carl Anderson

Sarah White returns to the Southern with a new album and a hot band to boot.  This New Record Show is overdue -- those who help fund the album’s production have waited nearly two years -- but tonight’s show should be worth the wait.

Joined by the ace musicians who made the record -- Charles Arthur on guitars, Charlie Bell on pedal steel, Daniel Clarke on keys, Stewart Myers on bass, and John O’Reilly, Jr. on drums -- Special Guest Carl Anderson will also be part of the night. “Carl sang on the record; I love his voice and his writing; I’m so glad he could join us… of course he is required to sing with me....”

New album, Sarah White, Carl Anderson, Friday night; C-Town, what more could you want?

Sarah White is a tremendous songwriter who might resemble some kind of Hazel Dickens/Patti Smith/Cat Power love child. She's released records on Jagjaguwar and Antenna Farm and won Best Song at the 2007 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. Her 2006 album White Light became a cult favorite for its eclectic blend of driving folk-rock, sorrowful country ballads and experimental, personal narrative songs -- the trifecta that defines her lengthening body of work.  Sarah has performed for Merle Haggard, Earl Scruggs, Will Oldham, the Dave Matthews Band Caravan and more and was named 2013 Best Songwriter in her hometown of Charlottesville, the town invented by Thomas Jefferson.

Carl Anderson, a young singer and songwriter from Virginia, has a rare authenticity, a quality that manages to be both self-assured and yet decidedly free from pretension-- a subtle confidence and humility that puts him in step with an older stock of songwriter.
