Chloë Ester, Cloudbelly, and trout baseline

Chloë Ester’s distinctive style is informed by indie, dream pop, bubblegrunge, shoegaze, and alternative rock sounds. Based in Charlottesville, VA, her songs have been described as introspective, cynical, delicate, dark, and sarcastic. She delivers crushingly vulnerable lyrics with a clear, magnetic voice and blistering directness, often obsessing over fear, trauma, love, and its absence. Her favorite song is “Dreams” by The Cranberries.

Cloudbelly is a chamber-pop indie folk band from Western MA with a sound that is at once intimate and cinematic. The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Corey Laitman, a former member of the NYC antifolk scene and Signature Sounds record label, whose ethereal poeticisms are delivered in a spellbinding voice that tips its cap to Sufjan Stevens and Joni Mitchell in equal measure. Laitman is joined by guitarist and ambient sound sculptor Sam Perry (SVIP), and drummer, producer, and sound mangler Nate Mondschein (who often works under the moniker of Best Mann). Together, the group makes music that sounds something like if boygenius, The National, Ed O’Brien, and a book of Anne Carson poems got snowed into the same roadside diner and decided to make an album while they waited out the storm. Cloudbelly is currently gearing up for the drop of their sophomore record, 'i know i know i know,' in early 2024.
