Michael Coleman Album Release Party

with Dillingham

About Michael Coleman

Charlottesville’s Michael Coleman has been a fresh, up-and-coming presence on the Virginia music scene opening for some of the area’s greatest performers; and, as such, is poised for a breakout year in 2016 and beyond. As a gifted singer/songwriter Coleman draws from his own upbringing and life experiences, emotions of love and loss, and draws from influences including Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Cat Stevens and Stevie Wonder.

Coleman’s skills as a jazz drummer translate themselves to the guitar to create a truly unique rhythmical sound. Coleman has a raw and passionate voice, as equally resonant performing solo or when combined with a backing band that includes some of Virginia’s most talented musicians.  On June 10 Michael will be releasing his second full length album, Whispers & Secrecy, and his first collaboration with engineer/producer Butch Taylor.  Recorded at Ravensworth Studios in the fall/winter of 2015, Whispers & Secrecy draws on the essence of the human experience.  Highlighting Michael's lyrical and vocal prowess as well as the incredible collaborative efforts of many local musicians, Whispers & Secrecy will leave you wanting more.

About Dillingham

Dillingham released their debut self-titled EP in July 2015 which was featured as part of Noisetrade’s “New and Notable." After tours in the the Northeast and the Northwest, Dillingham is back in the studio working on the next EP and recently released the single,“Vessel” off the upcoming EP. The lush vocal harmonies from frontman Tucker MacDonald and younger brother Micah are reminiscent of Fleet Foxes, while the songs and sounds tell stories that feel like poetry, with an ebb and flow rare to modern music.

"With conviction, strength, and intellect, the skillful partnership of Tucker’s voice and guitar besots listeners. His captivating voice resonates through the core, transcending you to a thought-provoking stratosphere, while the band behind him, known as dillingham, is performing a score, which in a beautifully ironic way, keeps you grounded." -Cville Niche
