About Southern Culture On The Skids:

On October 1, Yep Roc Records is proud to share with the world the Mondo Zombie Boogaloo, an album and tour celebrating Halloween, the most sinister day of them all. The album is a collection of new music from legendary
bands The Fleshtones, Los Straitjackets, and Southern Culture On The Skids. The set includes originals and standards from each band and promise to put listeners in a spooky mood for the Halloween season. With songs such as “¡Ghostbusters!,” “Goo Goo Muck,” “Haunted Hipster,” and a collaboration by the three bands on “Que Monstruos Son” (otherwise known as “The Monster Mash” en Español), Mondo Zombie Boogaloo is sure to revive both the living and dead this Halloween. To hear The Fleshtones’ version of “Ghoulman Confidential”, go here: https://soundcloud.com/yep-roc-music-group/ghoulman-confidential- 1, or via You Tube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEKwprCsYos

Mondo Zombie Boogaloo will be available on CD, digitally, and as a double LP on colored vinyl. The album’s cover features artwork by Steve Blickenstaff, famously known for his unforgettable work on The Cramps' 1984 album Bad Music for Bad People.

About Pierce Edens:

Over the last ten years, Edens has been drawing on his Appalachian songwriting roots and blending them with the grungy rock and roll sounds that took him in his teenage years. The result is a haunting and fiery mixture that is notoriously hard top in down. Allmusic.com classifies Edens as both “Folk-Rock” and “psychedelic-grunge,” and No Depression writer  Bill Kopp says “[He] could just as easily and accurately be tagged with the singer/songwriter label; He’s a gritty troubadour who takes what he needs from each style, blending and bending it to suit the needs of his songs.” Or, as Fred Mills stated in Blurt Magazine “Somewhere up there in the hills of western North Carolina a lot of bodies are buried, and Pierce Edens is the man with the locations. There’s no  evidence that a cop, D.A. or judge can bringforth, mindyou, but he clearly knows something; you can hear it in his twisted, tortured vocalbray [...]asoulful-yet-serrated instrument that conveys farmore than even its owner might intend.” Now, in his fifthfully independent album, Edens has taken his singular voice back home to his studio in Western North Carolina to bury some more bodies. This album witnesses Edens Stripping down the instrumentation to simply the vocals, percussion, and guitar, alongside his longtimeband-mate KevinReese accompanying with lead guitar, mandolin, and occasional banjo for a handful of genre-bending songs. Stripped Down Gussied Up delivers Edens’ signature sound as it should be heard; intimate and atmospheric, glittery, gritty, and raw.
