Music Hall Information
Located on Charlottesville’s Historic Downtown Mall, The Southern Café & Music Hall opened in 2009 in the former location of The Gravity Lounge and has been the leading club level music venue in Charlottesville since that time.
The Southern has two distinct portions of the business: The Music Hall and The Café. The Music Hall offers world class sound and professional lighting with a capacity of 300+ while playing host to local, regional and national touring acts of all genres nearly 150 times per year.
The Café opens 2 hours prior to all events (unless otherwise stated), offering traditional Southern inspired fare.
The Southern is also available for rent, hosting numerous business, holiday and UVA related events throughout the year.

Join Our Street Team
We have regular opportunities to work a table at events, hand out fliers, or help distribute posters throughout the area. Each shift earns you a pair of free tickets to the show of your choice at The Jefferson Theater, Ting Pavilion or The Southern.

Rent The Southern
The Southern can host up to 80 seated guests for dinners and up to 300 guests for cocktail parties. We offer a variety of design options for your event including seating on the stage and use of the Café and venue space.
